I Found Lost War Footage… I Wished I Hadn’t Watched It
I always liked history, I was actually in love with it to be perfectly honest. The stories of hero’s and adventurers taking to new heights and risking it all. It was always astounding to me. Than one day a friend of mine sent me a set of tapes that he had bought at an old garage sale. He told me he didn’t have any interest in them but they had old Eastern European writing on them. Almost stamp like. I was thrilled, I always loved analyzing old tapes of prior events, but after watching them I regretted ever opening the damn packaging. It took me a while to get the tape player from an old pawnshop, even then it hardly worked right. There were two tapes in total, they were taped backed to back with old school scotch like tape. It looked like it had been like that for decades based on the quality and scratching of the tapes. I cut the tape and peeled of the remaining tape and plugged in the first tape I saw, the tv hissed with static for a second before it cut out to a parade. It looked like Cold War era footage. However, there were no flags of the USSR or American.
The tape resumed to showed crowds of people cheering as tanks were driving through the streets. Military vehicles and soldiers in big crowds with their rifles pressed against their shoulders. The tape than cut out, I was dumbfounded as to what just happened and than… it resumed to footage of an alley way of a lady shrieking over a scorched body. Than it showed two soldiers running down the same alley not drawing any attention the lady, the men were running with all their might it looked like. Than it showed one of the men taking off his backpack and leveling his rifle at the lady, the lady begged as the soldier started screaming at her. With his buddy trying to talk him out of it, the soldier let off his rifle and the lady was shot dead under a mound of blood. I was horrified… the footage cut out again as a sentence written in a language I didn’t understand flashed over the screen. Than it cut out to what I presumed was a camera. The camera was overlooking a foxhole of soldiers in a small destroyed building under-looking a dusty road. The soldiers were laughing and joking, than in the distance I saw these holes being made in the ground. The holes were far too big to be bullets, more like the size of bowling balls. I took it as mortar or artillery shells being showered down on the soldiers. Before I could gasp the men were blown away, their entrails paved the building rubble. I could only make out that and this one man crawling away. Legless… The tv cut out.
I proceeded to put in the next tape, conflicted as too the horrors I just witnessed but I decided too anyways. As I put in the next tape, it shot on the screen instantly. It cut in too another camera view. The camera showed a dimly lit room with a surgical table. On the table showed a badly injured man, he was scorched on one of his sides, his arm was ripped off on the other. That’s when I noticed it… a small glisten of light reflecting off the mans arm, the arm displayed the mans bare bones intertwined with meat. In that bone was a small metal point. The point glistened from the light but I was confused as to what it was. The film cut out again, it cut out to three doctors operating on the man, they were treating the burns… but not his arm. They were… in fact tormenting his arm. One of the doctors flashed a sign up at the camera, I couldn’t understand it nor could I understand the text. That’s when I saw the shackles on the doctors legs, they looked like they were in pain. The doctor who held the sign pointed to his shackled leg and than… he pointed to a surgical scalpel. One of the doctors standing next to him than proceeded to take the small blade and cut his own neck. This was repeated by the two other doctors before the film shot out. The next scene showed an infirmary, it was empty with bloodied bandages laying on the floor next to neatly made beds. I-I was terrified. A few more scenes played by, each one more terrifying than the last.
I asked my friend later that day where he had received the tapes, he told me he bought them at a garage sale, in the email he said “yeah some weird guy sold me them, he was hesitant about letting them go. He told me they were real classics”
