Kennywood (Part 2)
Detective's Log #2. Oct. 8th, 2019. It's the following morning after my visit and exploration of the abandoned Kennywood Amusement Park. When I got home, it was 1 a.m. and I was too exhausted to immediately write things down. Nonetheless, my experience there was terrifying to say the least. I pulled into the parking lot at dusk. The park's entrance gates were locked and the fences lined with barbed wire. But, I knew that they had to be opening up soon. You see, in my years of following the park's activity, I noticed a trend of the whole place coming to life and opening to the general public every October. After the month ends, the park shuts down and goes dormant again. Every year, every weekend in October, the park opens exactly at 6 p.m. When my watch hit six, I heard the lock and chains on the front gates fall. They slowly swung open with a loud creaking sound. One by one, the discolored lights flickered on. As I stepped inside and walked through the turnstiles, calliope music suddenly wirred up. This creeped me out a little, but not enough to make me shit myself. I walked down the ramp toward the famous tunnel. It was filled to the brim with fog. Monsters of all shapes and sizes immediately came at me, taunting me. I ran through as fast as I could, not able to see clearly because of the fog. All to soon, I reached the other side, and entered the park. The lights were all orange, purple, and green. The Skyrocket was to my right, bathed in purple light. I walked down the center midway, past the Old Mill, and the Penny Arcade, now completely overrun with vampires. They screeched and hissed at me. Across from it was the area where the clowns were. Suddenly, vampires and clowns ganged up on me, hissing and laughing and carnival music filling the air. I ran past the Jack Rabbit, all the way to the Racer. The Racer's facade was flashing green and orange. The immense amount of fog drifted into the sky. Eventually, I lost them. I found myself standing outside of the bio genetics laboratory. I took a step toward it, seeing the Steel Curtain in the background. Slowly, a figure wearing a gas mask and a miners helmet stepped out in front of me. He had a large poison tank strapped to his back. He appeared to be an exterminator. He breathed heavy through the mask, pointing the wand at me and spraying poison. I screamed and jumped back. That was a mistake, as then mutant zombies poured out of the lab. "Oh shit!" I shouted, and ran again. I made my way into Kiddie Land and lost them. It was dark, eerie, and quiet, save for the sound of a beating heart. I noticed hellish shadow demons with glowing red eyes standing before me. "Are you serious?!" I shouted, frustrated. It seemed as though no matter where I went, there were monsters waiting for me. I chose not to even bother with these fuckers, turned right around and walked away. I headed into an area with the Gold Rush cowboys, near Ghostwood Estate. As I made my way through, it was so foggy that I couldn't see them, but I could hear them. The clopping of horse hooves and the firing of guns told me they were there. I reached the estate and passed Raging Rapids or "Voodoo Bayou" as it was now called. Entering into what was known as the Kennyville area, it was empty, save for a few picnic tables around the Potato Patch. I passed Noah's Ark. No way was I going in there. I am afraid I have talked enough for now. I will continue retelling my experience in the next log. Goodbye.
